With the participation of nearly 85 people from all study sites, the 2nd Annual Global iPrEx Investigators Meeting took place in San Francisco from the 12th to 14th of November of 2009. The Global iPrEx Core team was honored to host our colleagues from the 11 study sites and the different speakers that provided the opportunity to share useful and updated information of the conduct of other PrEP studies, and some novel information of research being done in the areas of immunology, animal modeling, pharmacokinetics, bone mineral density and steps being taken to plan the implementation of PrEP if phase III trials probe that PrEP is efficacious.
This was also an opportunity to exchange the experiences study sites are having in educating the different communities they serve, including study participants, to reduce their risk of exposure to HIV.
